Want to know a little trick to help you stay on track with your exercising and eating right?
FIND A FRIEND WHO WORKS OUT AND EATS WELL AND TALK TO THEM ABOUT IT REGULARLY.
I know that sounds painfully obvious, but hear me out. How often do you go out to lunch or dinner with a friend who isn't on the same regimen as you are and they coax you into making unhealthy choices? "Oh, come on, you're already getting the fries, might as well get a side of ranch to dip them in!" You know what I'm talking about. I don't know why, but there are so many people in this world who are dead-set on seeing people fail in their weight-loss. I've talked about this in great length on another post about naysayers-here it is.
A few suggestions to avoid this.
First, like I mentioned before, try to put yourself in good company. Find friends who will support you and give you inspiration and support. I'm not saying ditch out on your friends with nay saying streaks. But we all know that in life, things change. None of us move at exactly the same pace forever. Surround yourself with positive, like-minded people. It helps. BIG TIME.
Remember that when you do have dinner or drinks or an email conversation or whatever with someone who enables bad behavior, that's okay! Keep them around! You've been that person before probably, too! Don't be a hypocrite, but do know what you're walking into and be prepared to change the subject when the pushing begins. And say no if you have to. It's hard to do at first, but it's worth it.
Find a specific person in your life that can hold you accountable. I have a good friend Amanda who I email (and who emails me) once a week about how the last week has gone... Ups and downs, new fitness ideas, etc. It helps to have someone to answer to now and then. Oh-and if you're so inclined, start a blog and be completely honestly in your posts. It'll help you on your way because you will want to have good news to post.
...and with that being said, offer up a listening ear to others. I always tell people that if they want to vent about a workout or talk to someone or whatever, just email me. It's worked so well for me, why not let others in on the idea? This is why there are personal trainers and tons of websites dedicated to weight loss. A huge industry revolving around making sure people are accountable for the choices they make regarding their diets and fitness routines. (If you want, you can email me at chelseawelseacommits@gmail.com.)
Find inspirational posters or pictures. Yup, it sounds cheesy, but they work. Again, I will preach the gospel of the Pinterest health and fitness board. Look on there every now and then and you're bound to find something that rings true for you or that can help you.
I hope some of these ideas can help you. It's hard, SO hard, to stay on track. Whatever eases the difficulty for you, take full advantage of it! Have a lovely Monday!
