Tuna Steak Marinade

Last Friday, I bought some beautiful tuna steaks (dang, those things are pricey, aren't they?!) and we grilled them. I have only recently become a lover of seafood. One of the things that's helped me? Finding the ideal marinade. I searched all over the internet and through my cookbooks and eventually just combined a few to make this:

Ingredients
  • 2 tuna steaks (you will probably have enough marinade for 3-4 if you want)
  • Juice from one orange (if you don't have an orange or you don't feel like squeezing one, this translates to a little over 1/4 cup.)
  • 1/4 C soy sauce
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon or lime (this equates to about a tablespoon)
  • 2-4 cloves minced garlic depending on your taste
  • 2 T olive oil
  • 1/4 t dried oregano
  • 1/4 C chopped, fresh parsley
  • salt and pepper to taste
Directions
  1. Mix everything up (aside from the tuna steaks).
  2. Put tuna steaks into shallow dish.
  3. Pour marinade over.
  4. Let sit in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, flipping halfway through to redistribute marinade.
  5. Grill 5-6 minutes on each side (this will vary depending on thickness).
We put hot sauce on everything. This was good
with Louisiana style hot sauce.

(In case you're wondering, the side we had was potatoes. I overcooked them this time, but usually, they're a fail-safe. I have a quick recipe for them here along with a chicken recipe.)
