Things I Love This Week (7/29-8/4)

1. RAIN! We finally got rain this morning! Acording to the Weather Underground website (wunderground.com-our FAVORITE weather resource online), we had 1.51 inches. Oh, how we've needed it here. And everywhere else, pretty much, too. So thank the LORD! The ground isn't dry and cracked anymore!

2. In the next few weeks, my husband and I are going on a trip to Colorado to do some hiking and bicycling and spend time with some of my dear friends. I'm thinking of putting together a blog about how to eat healthy during a road trip. Again, like many of my blogs, it's an excuse to make an organized list of resources and ideas. I found this website-http://www.wisebread.com/7-fresh-ideas-for-healthy-road-trip-snacks-that has some really unique ideas. One of them is to bring mason jars, fill them with water and put a teabag or two in them and put them and make sun tea while you're driving along in your car. Very inventive! And healthy and caffeinated and delicious! I plan on doing this from now on and I can't believe I've never thought of it before.

3. Meme of the week:

4. Eufora hair products. Holy. Moly. Do you want your hair to smell more amazing than it's ever smelled? Feel the best it's ever felt? Be the most manageable it's ever been? FIND A SALON THAT SELLS EUFORA AND BUY AN ENTIRE STYLING LINE. One of my best friends sells it at her salon and was giving me a brief education in the product line. There are no parabens, everything is natural, it's not outrageously priced. Check it out online. http://www.eufora.net/index2.htm I'm going this week to the salon supply house to buy some. Of everything they sell.

5. This website: http://www.modelmydiet.com/. You go, enter your height, weight, some other physical features if you want and it makes an avatar of what you (roughly) look like right now and then you enter your desired weight and it makes an avatar of what you will look like when you reach your goal weight. It is VERY inspiring and I spent way too much time on it.

And one thing that I (surprisingly) do not like is.... COCONUT WATER. GAG ME WITH A SPOON. Seriously. Being a newly reformed clean eater, I thought I'd love this water. It's huge with health-concious celebrities-let's face it, they usually have a heads-up as far as what to eat to keep them glowing-and everything I've read basically says it's nothing short of a miracle exlixir. But honestly, it's like someone took a pistachio flavoring and added it to my water. Then went ahead and thickened it so it's like drinking a pistachio-flavored syrup. Eeeeesh. I wish I could like it. Too weird for me. Way too weird. Maybe I'll try it again, but for now, I'm going to toss that 99 cents I spent on it right down the drain.

Things I love from last week (7/22-7/28)

I think I'm going to occasionally throw together a post about things I loved from the previous week. Hence the title of this post. Partially because I want to pass things that have helped me along and partially to keep them organized for myself so I don't have to dig through Pinterest boards and my lame excuse for a favorites list on my computer. So here's this week's list.

1. How no matter what, the Olympics bring us together as a nation. Friday night, my Facebook news feed was taken over by cheerful, proud, "USA! GO USA!" posts. Yes, we fight over politics. We fight over basic rights. We fight over what's okay and what's not okay for our children. We fight over EVERYTHING. Except we all agree when it comes to the Olympics. Go USA!

2. This awesome alternative to soda (link-http://tonetiki.com/2012/04/01/apple-cinnamon-day-spa-water-0-calories/) It's a cinnamon apple detox water. Here is the link to where I found it. She's got a pretty awesome blog all around, so take a minute to check the rest of her stuff out, too! I'm going to try a water infused with lemons, cucumbers, and mint leaves next.

3. The detox bath. For instructions and my take on the whole thing, here's a link to that specific post of mine: http://chelswels.blogspot.com/2012/07/friday-night-detox-bath.html. It is so cheap, so easy, and so fulfilling. I recommend it.

4. These:

All very different messages, all very important. Sometimes, memes irritate me. Memes are not a faith, not a religion, not an excuse to be mean or a confirmation that what you're doing is right. They are most often OPINIONS. And you shouldn't get your advice strictly from memes you find on the internet. But sometimes, they are perfectly put. Above are three examples of just that.

5. This website: http://skinnyms.com/. If you want to learn how to eat right and work out the right way without paying a monthly subscription to a website, go here. It's great. And easy to navigate. And her recipes are spectacular.

6. And finally, two blogs that made me cry. http://www.mikejohnston.org/aurora-shootings-statement/ This one is a senator from Colorado, Mike Johnston. It's his take on the Aurora shootings. And this one- http://jenhatmaker.com/blog/2012/07/27/in-the-basement#.UBLy0YGjR88.facebook about not criticizing so much and loving people more. They're both beautiful blogs. I highly encourage you all to read both of them and pass them along.

Oh, and my husband and I won a Spam cooking contest yesterday. WINNER, WINNER, SPAM DINNER!
