Things I love from last week (7/22-7/28)

I think I'm going to occasionally throw together a post about things I loved from the previous week. Hence the title of this post. Partially because I want to pass things that have helped me along and partially to keep them organized for myself so I don't have to dig through Pinterest boards and my lame excuse for a favorites list on my computer. So here's this week's list.

1. How no matter what, the Olympics bring us together as a nation. Friday night, my Facebook news feed was taken over by cheerful, proud, "USA! GO USA!" posts. Yes, we fight over politics. We fight over basic rights. We fight over what's okay and what's not okay for our children. We fight over EVERYTHING. Except we all agree when it comes to the Olympics. Go USA!

2. This awesome alternative to soda (link-http://tonetiki.com/2012/04/01/apple-cinnamon-day-spa-water-0-calories/) It's a cinnamon apple detox water. Here is the link to where I found it. She's got a pretty awesome blog all around, so take a minute to check the rest of her stuff out, too! I'm going to try a water infused with lemons, cucumbers, and mint leaves next.

3. The detox bath. For instructions and my take on the whole thing, here's a link to that specific post of mine: http://chelswels.blogspot.com/2012/07/friday-night-detox-bath.html. It is so cheap, so easy, and so fulfilling. I recommend it.

4. These:

All very different messages, all very important. Sometimes, memes irritate me. Memes are not a faith, not a religion, not an excuse to be mean or a confirmation that what you're doing is right. They are most often OPINIONS. And you shouldn't get your advice strictly from memes you find on the internet. But sometimes, they are perfectly put. Above are three examples of just that.

5. This website: http://skinnyms.com/. If you want to learn how to eat right and work out the right way without paying a monthly subscription to a website, go here. It's great. And easy to navigate. And her recipes are spectacular.

6. And finally, two blogs that made me cry. http://www.mikejohnston.org/aurora-shootings-statement/ This one is a senator from Colorado, Mike Johnston. It's his take on the Aurora shootings. And this one- http://jenhatmaker.com/blog/2012/07/27/in-the-basement#.UBLy0YGjR88.facebook about not criticizing so much and loving people more. They're both beautiful blogs. I highly encourage you all to read both of them and pass them along.

Oh, and my husband and I won a Spam cooking contest yesterday. WINNER, WINNER, SPAM DINNER!
