Chicken Controversy: My Take(s).

1. Quit taking Christianity and turning it into a judgement party. Love your neighbor. Treat others as you want to be treated. LOVE. EACH. OTHER. And if you're going to cite different verses over and over again to support your point, maybe go through and read the whole Bible first. And then remind yourself that you don't want to be a hypocrite.

2. Fast food chicken is disgusting. If I remember correctly, one of the wraps that Chick-Fil-A offers has almost 2,000 mg of SODIUM. Wow, hey there heart attack. Plus, most fast food chicken is raised in terrible conditions and surging with stress hormones. Yikes. I'll pass, thanks.

3. STOP BEING SCARED OF GAY PEOPLE. STOP IT! And while you're at it, in the words of Bob Dylan, "Don't criticize what you can't understand." So just stop picking people apart because they're not like you. For any reason.

4. If you can pull yourself out of your day-to-day schedule to go "support" this chicken company, why don't you pull yourself out of YOURSELF for a moment and go volunteer at a homeless shelter or donate some money to an orphanage or go hang out with some dogs at an animal shelter. Quit using your beautiful energy for hatred. Quit spending your money on a company that doesn't need your money. Instead of purchasing a $6, nutritionally UNSAFE and UNHEALTHY "meal" (if that's what we're calling it), send $6 to a organization that helps people.

This has gotten so absurd. It breaks my heart in so many different places. I have never understood bullying on any level.

Lastly... Ironically, lately I have had this strange urge to paint chickens and other birds. Before I paint anything, I make sure that I'm not painting something that has any bad hidden meanings. So. I found some interesting things out about roosters and what they symbolize. Bulleted list time? I think so.
  • Roosters mean enlightenment. Since they wake up before the sun and welcome it into the day, they symbolize new beginnings.
  • One website (http://www.whats-your-sign.com/symbol-meanings-of-the-rooster.html) said this about roosters, "Rooster symbol meanings are all about fanning out with brilliance, and showing the world your shimmering facets of personality."
  • Another website (http://www.totemwisdom.com/roostertotem.html) says roosters symbolize strength, self-proclamation, and recognition.
  • There are also numerous beliefs (among many religions and faiths) that the rooster symbolizes light overcoming darkness.
  • Sorrow and justice are associated with the rooster. Hmm.

So here's the summation of this post. This whole "dumb fast food chicken argument" can be a lesson. Be kind to others and leave your judgements at the door. Stop eating disturbing fast food chicken. Start donating energy, time, money, whatever to worthy causes. And if you are in a place where you feel sorrow, think of the rooster. The mascot of the "fast food chicken company." Be strong. Don't be afraid of yourself. Light always returns after darkness. We can turn this awful bus around and make something good out of this mess, I promise.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!

P.S. I hate and strongly disagree with Dan Cathy's opinion (I could be spelling his name wrong, I don't know) BUT. He has the right to his opinion and thank GOD we can voice our opinions here. I love my country. I just think we should devote our energy to something more useful and less hateful.

  1. I 100% agree with all of your points. Also, I'm quite fond of the line from Times Are Changing. Love Bob. But yeah, Point Number 2 especially rings a bell with me because that is something that not a lot of people think about and they should. I have tried chic-fil-a one time and it was at Jordan Creek Mall and it was because one of the workers was out front pushing free samples on everyone. So I took one I and literally had to spit it out in the trash can. Not trying to be overly dramatic or anything, it was just that bad. YUCK. And that's before the days when I didn't think so much about health and what I put in my body.

But I DO always think about where the animals come from. I would be a vegetarian if it wasn't for the fact that I wholly believe in the food chain, I just believe that as humans we should practice HUMANITY and that means only eating animals that got to live a good life. It's why I spend probably 2-3x the amount of money on any meat, egg, or milk product but it makes me feel good. And if everyone did it-- the prices would go down! Don't people realize that? Not enough people care. But they should.

I believe in the freedom of speech and everyone's right to their opinion and religion and blah blah blah. But before any of that gets taken into account, why not just go back to the Golden Rule? Treat someone the way you'd want to be treated, and if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all.

    1. It's just good karma, right? To eat an animal that led a good life? People don't care, you're right. And then they wonder why they're sick and their hormones are all out of wack and why they can't lose weight, etc. Look at what you're putting into your mouth! Simple!
