Point of Reference

This is hard for me to do. Here are a couple of pictures of me last fall when I was still not at my heaviest yet. These are the best "before" pictures I could come up with that even kind of show how big I was. And these pictures doesn't do it justice, believe me. I deleted all the "bad" photos of myself and I wish I wouldn't have now because they would make an awesome point of reference. SIGH. Here they are.
Let me clarify something for any of you who don't know me. I. AM. TALL. I'm 6'1". Yes. So it takes QUITE A LOT to visibly gain weight for me. Lots of places for weight to hide. Let me clear one other thing up. I know that I was not morbidly obese. But I was at my heaviest and I wasn't willing to give in to living "at my heaviest" for the rest of my life. I decided to turn it around and be healthy.

This is me now.
I chose this picture for two reasons. 1. It is the most recent picture I have of myself and 2. I'm holding a really unhealthy pizza in my hands. Which goes along with my philosophy that you MUST treat yourself sometimes. If not, when you give in (you will, we ALL DO) you will give in HARD. Ordering two value meals at a fast food restaurant. Eating almost all of a pizza instead of two slices. Gorging yourself at an all-you-can-eat buffet. So treat yourself now and then. Order the burger with a side of fruit instead of the fries. Order the fries if you want! Just don't smother them in ranch! Then resume your normal diet.

So there you have it. This post was totally discombobulated, I know, but I felt obligated to post the best before and afters I had. Every other dumb weight loss blog does. Except it seems like the majority of weight loss blogs are written by 19 year old girls and I think that is hard for some of us to relate to. I'm 28. I've had a kid. I love food. I gained weight. I'm getting rid of it now.

Good luck to any of you in a similar situation. We've got this, guys.

  1. Way to go Chelsea! You really look awesome now :) I mean, you've always looked awesome. I think it has something to do with your gene pool...
